Under the guise of stopping online piracy, the congress is fast tracking a bill that would give sweeping internet censorship powers to the government. It’s called SOPA/PIPA. Here’s a brief video about how it will affect you.

It starts with an admirable goal, to reduce piracy. It ends with a population living in fear of free speech, and reduced to North Korea style conformity. Educate yourself about this clear threat before it’s too late. We don’t want to be like China, with an information “firewall.” As bloggers, we don’t want to live in fear of corporations or the government finding our content somehow objectionable. It is your duty as a citizen to let your representatives know how you feel about this huge threat to your liberty and freedom of speech.
